With a wide building and engineering background and problem solving expertise, David Murray can assess your structural or building problem and provide recommendations. David is a qualified engineer and has been in full time professional practice since 1973. He is a Fellow of and is the current President of the Association of Building Consultants.
Where appropriate, equipment such as electronic moisture meters, thermal scanners, contact microphones, precision measuring equipment, high powered survey lighting, electronic & line laser beam level measurement systems, fibre optic triple-core borescope, force gauge with test attachments (pool barrier strength & rigidity testing) and other specialized testing equipment may be used, coupled with practical engineering experience. We have the latest version of the Building Code of Australia on hand electronically as well as a subscription to back versions. We also carry relevant Australian Standards either electronically or in paper form.
Some of the more common types of problems assessed are:
| structural movement & cracking |
| salt damp and other damp & leakage issues |
| structural damage from termite attack |
| quality of work by builders and sub-contractors |
| structural failures of building elements |
| storm, flood, vehicle impact, earthquake and other forms of extraneous damage |
| dilapidation reports to record the condition of buildings that may be affected by other work |
Fees
Fees are based on a charge-out rate of A$250* per hour (inclusive of GST for inspection, report writing & consultation time). There is a minimum charge of A$400* (inclusive of GST) per site visit. Travel is not charged for if the site is within 30 minutes actual travel time from our base at Royston Park - travel charges may apply elsewhere.
* A 25% surcharge applies for inspections on weekends, public holidays & after normal working hours.
